Goal: A stylish, yet hard-working wardrobe.
Updated: Feb 11
For the first Her Gathering event of 2020 we wanted a combination of topics to provide a practical, yet inspiring knowledge exchange. Our goal is to always provide easy, simple, life-enhancing tips, hints and tricks for everyone to take-away. So we invited Abbey, a full-time Personal Stylist from Stories With Clothes to join us on the 20th February 2020 at The Kitchen, Croxley Green.
To give you some deeper insight into Abbey, and the kind of energy and enthusiasm she will bring to the event we asked her three questions.
A brief 'get to know you' if you like.
Here it is.
Tell us a little about you….
I have had a varied career. I started out in advertising then became a mum. I have been a small business owner with my own clothing boutique. I have run a number of boutiques locally before I finally found my true passion which is personal styling.
Personal Styling is just that - PERSONAL. Owning your style is empowering and liberating.
I am REALLY passionate about Body Shape...it was one of those lightbulb moments for me when studying at the London College of Style. It is so integral to feeling great and dressing well. It can take someone from having no self confidence/feeling low to looking and feeling their absolute best.
What are some of your go to tools/tips/tricks that make your daily life work?
I am a big believer in pre-planning several outfits the night before. It takes the stress, worry and rush out of the start of your day. I am also a big advocate of 'Shopping Your Wardrobe'. To 'Shop Your Wardrobe' is to edit and refine your wardrobe. It will help you clear out styles/pieces which no longer fit, don't suit you or isn't seasonal and will help you to create brand new looks from current clothes without necessarily the need to go shopping/buying new clothes. This is one of the first steps to take towards curating a capsule wardrobe. A capsule wardrobe is a collection of a few essential items of clothing that don't go out of fashion. It might be classic basics such as skirts, trousers, and coats that you can then add seasonal pieces to without breaking the bank. Curating your clothes in this way can save time, be more sustainable and helps to effortlessly create a variety of outfits. The essence of a capsule wardrobe is one that can easily be mixed and matched.
What do you enjoy most about what you do?
Empowering others to look and feel the best versions of themselves through style, colours, textures, and accessories. Not just for special occasions, but every single day. People make first impressions within 7 seconds, before we can impress them with our intelligence, knowledge and great personality - we need to make those precious moments count! Through style and clothes I help people tell their story, so they can fall in love with their style and elevate themselves.
I absolutely adore what I do and love sharing my passion and energy with others so they feel uplifted, empowered and more confident in their own style moving forwards!
Abbey will be joining us on the evening of February 20th to talk about tips and tricks to starting your capsule wardrobe. Tickets are on sale now through our events page and on our Facebook page @HerGathering
